Baby Care

Baby care had been always been a great challenge for all the parents for all the times. With more and more centralization of population in larger cities various kind of social issues have arise viz. breaking of large families, start of nuclear families, requirement of earning of all the eligible members of family. These aspects have resulted babies more prone to neglect and different parenting issues as senior members of family who used to be readily available round the clock to take care and guide the new parents are unfortunately not available so readily now a days.

lets understand various aspects of baby care and address with readily available support in the modern infrastructure so that we may provide due care to our infants and babies.

1. Feeding
Feeding is most important for any individual. Infants and babies are very delicate and need special care for the same. Infants need to be fed almost every 2 hours how ever the feeding interval depends on the metabolism of your new born and varies from 2-3 hours. Best food for your baby is obviously mother's milk. It provides almost all the  required nutrients and vitamins as required by the new born. Some times it has been seen that mothers are not able to feed properly. In such a situation milk powders and other supplements should be provided as per recommendation of the Doctors. After completion of 6 months solids like sere-lac may be given which are easily digestible and good in taste.

2. Sleep
Sleep is very important for infants and babies. It gives them chance to replenish and balance the energy and helps in all round development. Normally infants have 16-18 hours of sleep which goes on reducing as they grow older. All kind of care must be taken for non-disturbed sleep and safety from mosquitoes. Good bedding is also very necessary for sound sleep. Different variants of bedding and mosquito nets are readily available in the market which can help us take care of our babies.

3. Massage
Massage is a very necessary part of any baby's daily routine. It is a healthy exercise for them and helps them keep their metabolism up. It also helps in development of bones and muscles and keeping them strong. 3-4 times massage is recommended for babies up to 2 years.Massage may be done with any good baby massage oil available in the market. So many variants are available in the market. any of the family members may do the massage. Massage experts may also be hired for the same for initial 6 moths.

4. Bathing and washing
Skin of babies is very soft and gentle. Utmost care must be taken while applying anything to baby's skin. Johnson and Himalaya have a good range of baby products for the same. We may rest assured while using these products as almost all the doctors also suggest the same for babies.

5. Outing
Outing and sun basking is very necessary for children. It rejuvenates them and ensures optimum level of vitamin D. Proper care must be taken while going out. The carts or trolleys must be comfortable enough for the babies as well as crier. Baby carriers may also be used for infants.

Fundamental Values of Indian Education System

Dear friends!

Have you thought of why we studied or learnt for almost 15 to 17 years? Sometimes even more than 20-25 years for the people who have carried out some research, done PHD or are double post graduate. I salute to the patience of all those who carried out the studies for so long and double salute to those who really had interest in the studies.

Do you remember the shouts/words of your parents while you used to ignore or take the studies casually or the sweet advice for future? Most of them pointed just one thing – if you study you will get good job, all materialistic desires and luxuries and if not the life will be miserable and you will be a big looser or beggar. This is not the fact which they learnt by themselves. The fact has been taught and transferred from generations to generations.

In the empire of British we were solely dependent on mercy of British officials or the local kings. British had direct and largest competition with the Mughal/Muslim rulers so they started favoring Brahmans and Kayasths as they were good learners. Kayasths (Shreevastav, Kher, Khanna, Sinnha etc.) were more close to British as they could mix well because of their drinking and eating habits which Brahmans couldn’t. At the same time after 1857 (Mangal Pandey’s incident) they realized that keeping Brahmans too close would be difficult as they have their own intelligence and it can also backfire.

If we try to understand the actual/original education system of India, it was a system which relied on principal of making people aware of basic education and then specialization in different streams and there was job security for everybody. Gandhi Ji had told that, “there is enough on earth for everybody’s need but all the resources would not be able to fulfill single person’s greed”.

The original education system focused on interest of the person and glorified all the professions. Talent had always been considered priceless by Indians but at the same time highest price of being talented has been paid by just those communities only who were most talented viz.   Hindus, Mayans and Jews. Normally seeing the activities and processes of a particular product or service automatically used to draw attention of the kids being nurtured by the family and this way they used to join as an intern and used to come out as masters.

The fundamental principal of passing a skill was to pass or teach it after assessing the eligibility to grasp and soundness to use (intent and content both). In today’s education system it has vanished. In the race of aspiration at one way we are losing our natural ancestral talent and at the other way the same thing is to be repeated again and again to each unique learner. This normally didn’t happen in the original education system.

I think now after understanding the reality and side effects of modern education system we should return to our fundamentals and core. I don’t advocate old techniques viz. disciple system or training under trees but at the same time core and fundamental values of education system must be replenished once again. This will certainly help in making the people more employable and independent.

Corona & Dampening Economy both need fiercely fight

"We will have to fight both enemies (Corona & Dampening Economy) fiercely, and be as hard as steel for the same." Yes, this is exactly the situation. Lockdown has been going on in India for the last 40 days. Newspapers are flooded with reports of economic and social assessments. It is estimated that the lock-downs of March, April and May can affect the Indian GDP by about 20% to 30%.

Famous industrialist Shree Ratan Tata has tweeted, "My dear business brothers, 2021 is the year of saving lives & not earning. Saving life is also earning." Realizing the crisis of both saving life and livelihood, the state and central government have paved the way to reach laborers and students at their homes in a harmonious manner, which is commendable. Although all of them will have to go to the quarantine for a period of 14 to 21 days, but the assurance that the family is getting in front of it is incomparable.

Renowned IT industrialist Shri Narayan Murthy has expressed concern that, "If all the activities are stopped in the same way due to lock down, then surely the number of starving people will be more than the number of people dying of corona. "

If we analyze the equation of population of India, then the above thing does not seem to be wrong. Out of the 130 crore population of the country, 45 crore live in cities and the remaining 45 crore live in villages even today. Out of these 45 crore people, 40 crore people are in jobs whose income is less than 10000 per month. In such a situation, it is very difficult and painful for the family to live in big cities. 35 crore,  those who work on daily wages, where the conditions have become very pitiable. The lower middle and middle class is also not in very good condition. If this lock down goes on for 1-2 months, then the crisis will go so deep that people will have to lose a big part of be gained by hard work and wealth will also go away.

While poverty invites malnutrition, malnutrition leads to diseases. According to the Global Hunger Index report of 2019, with a score of 30.3, India is passing through a severe category of starvation. India has ranked 102nd in this list of 117 countries. According to the GHI report, India's child vesting rate is 20.8 percent, which is extremely high. This index is calculated on four scales - Poor nutrition, child vesting (children under five who are underweight), child stunting (children under five whose height is lower than average) and under five Infant mortality rate. According to UNICEF's "State of the World's Children 2019" report, the number of deaths below 5 years of age was 882000 in 2018. This is too much for any country.

On the basis of the challenges presented and the resources available, it would not be unreasonable to say that the wonderful example of mutual reconciliation and federal and central arrangements that Indian governments have presented is praiseworthy. The sensing of danger at the right time, the various decisions taken and implemented in a planned, team-oriented manner are unique. However,“The benefits being disbursed is reaching the last category of the beneficiaries constantly" should be monitored and verified regularly otherwise it would be like any other paper plan.

Globally, the US and many European countries like Germany, France, Britain and Asian countries like Japan, South Korea have understood the economic strategy of China and decided to part with it. The Central Government and the State Governments are eager to invite various companies. Such meaningful steps taken at the right time will really strengthen and prosper India's future.
